What do you want to see on this blog?

You know I should've done this a long time ago but I doubt I have very many readers yet...come on spread the word.

So what do yall want to see on this site?

-News (even though I only post on big news...this gets tiresome)
-Previews
-Reviews
-Game Release Dates (I could work this into somewhere somehow, maybe a Calendar?)

Those are the things you probably want to see. This is more of an opinions blog but also about my experiences with the latest games (which I do need to update more often, sorry!) Also I'm looking for other people to post on this blog as authors of the stuff I mentioned above plus maybe their own little articles about games. So if you are interested contact me on AIM: MidnightScott or MSN: scott_m_reed(at)sbcglobal.net (or the email I use for MSN) and tell me what you would want to do! So anyway I'm off to bed now!

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 - April 20th, 2008

Well today Nintendo announced the release dates of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness for the Nintendo DS. The games will be released on April 20th, 2008, almost a year after the US release of Diamond & Pearl. You can check out the press release here.

I'm not sure I'm going to be picking these games up. I may just pick up one and see if it is worth getting it. I never really got into the first game on the DS, so I didn't buy the second version for the GBA. I may need to try out the old game and see if I can find anything that keeps me interested in it. Hopefully I can become a fan of these games, just like I'm a fan of Ranger. I'll know in due time what to do.

Kirby Fever, Space Invaders, and a Wii Update

Yeah, so Kirby 64 came out on the Wii's virtual console yesterday. I remember playing that game at my friends house all the time, but like many other N64 games I never owned it. So ofcourse I took advantage of downloading it on the Wii. The game plays perfectly with no qualms I am happy to report, so if your a Kirby fan or want a unique experience this is one of the better games on the Virtual Console. You can even mix two powers to make a unique power that is only available in this game. (I wish that system was utilized in other Kirby games, make it happen in Kirby for the Wii, Nintendo!)

I also decided to play Kirby: Canvas Curse on DS which I got back in July 2005 the other day. I finally finished the main story and collected all of the medals that you get in the levels. I still need to collect the medals from the Rainbow Run mode but I'll save that for another time. Other then that I'm pretty much done with that game. (As you can tell I'm a Kirby fan even though I only own 4 games, I've played many games in the series!)

As you know I have an R4 so I can try games out before I buy them. The latest game I tried just came out in Japan, Space Invaders Extreme. This latest reworking of the ancient game really reminds me of Meteos style. It's got techno music and flashy background graphics. And you know what, this game is surprisingly addictive. I never thought I would be playing this much. Sadly the game won't be coming stateside for a few months, but it is basically import friendly as the game talks to you and displays most things in English. (The only Japanese I saw was description of each mode.) I think I will definitely pick this one up. The game also uses the Paddle controller but there is no word whether that peripheral will be brought over to the US.

Also, there was a Wii System Update to version 3.2 - basically all it will do is if you pop in a game that requires a Wii Update, it will display a message on the Wii Menu in the Disk Channel space just like how the Wii Shop Channel shows off one of the latest games available on it. I guess it could kind of help those modders/hackers out there with modchips by protecting them from a game that will cause their Wii to brick...lol.

Brawl Midnight Launch & Tournament @ GameStop

Many GameStop's across the nation will be participating in a Midnight Launch and hold a Tournament for Super Smash Bros. Brawl where you can win a Plasma TV, Wii System, Nintendo Game Library, and $5,000 cash. You can check out here for more information, and a link to the list of participating GameStop stores.

I am so excited, I didn't think my local store would be on the list but it was, so I will definitely be there. However, I don't think I will enter the tournament as I know I will lose anyway. I just wanna get the game, go home, and play it all night long!

I kind of expected a Midnight launch for the game but not at all the GameStop stores, can't wait till March 9th, only 17 days away!!!

Finished No More Heroes...

Well I just finished No More Heroes a few minutes ago. It has the most bizarre ending ever and the credits music is pretty good, I want the soundtrack for this game! Anyway, I only died I think two times on the final battle compared to the battle against Bad Girl yesterday morning. But apparently that isn't the final battle...because there was one more battle after that which is the true ending. Of course I'm not going to tell you anything because I'm not an evil gamer who spoils.

One thing I'm glad is that I finally know the whole story behind the game that was so unclear in the beginning of the game. It pretty much ties up all of the lose ends (even Travis says that during his final fight against an opponent from the past.)

Apparently after you finish you can play your file over again on another difficulty, however you get to keep all of your weapons, money, etc. from before which is really cool. I can see myself playing this game sometime soon but I have some other games to finish (Zack & Wiki which I barely played...) There will also be extra cards you can collect and you will learn the backstory on all of the assassins, as well as unlock character art and extra neat bonuses like that.

Thank you so much Suda51 for making this awesome game, if there is a sequel to this, I can't wait for it to happen!

Otaku Assassin Progress

Well other than having to go get my mom out of jail the other day I played No More Heroes some more and finished several ranked missions. I am now Rank 2, and let me tell you, that was the hardest fight in the entire game. I never died so many times on any ranked matches and even stayed up till 4:30 AM playing the game, until I finally defeated the person. Don't read below if you don't want to be spoiled. I now basically have to go get a butt-load of money and buy up the new Beam Katana's and then get enough money to enter the Rank 1 fight. This is going to take a while because this next match cost LB$550,000 to enter >_>;. Guess I need to rescue some more kitties, hehe. Spoilers Below...

The Rank 2 match takes place in a room underneath Destroy Stadium. Your opponent is a b*tch who goes by the name of Bad Girl (adding to the fact that Suda's characters have weird names.) She seems kind of psycho, and she has a baseball bat too. So you can imagine what it was like trying to beat her. First she just swings the bat at you and after that is when you get the chance to attack her a little. Eventually she will start batting her minions at you, and you can hit them back at her but you have to be really quick at doing it. If a minion hits you it causes massive damage to your health. Another thing she will do is fall to the ground and pretend she is crying; when she does this be sure to stay away from her because she will use a killing technique and all your hard work will have gone to waste. The most annoying attack she has is when she does this ground pound, which will hurt you if you don't evade by having the Z button homed in on her and pressing down on the D-Pad to evade.

I know reading about it won't help you, so I'll leave it up to you to find a Youtube video of the match if you want to see. I also just don't want to spoil you, so if you read the above paragraph then you have been spoiled somewhat.

As I said before, if you can tolerate the bad language in the game, and all the cartoony gore of killing your opponents, then this game is definitely for you. This game has actually sold over 100,000 copies in the US, and expected to sell more as time goes on. Buy this game or you are seriously missing out on one of the best third party games on the Wii!

US Trailer for Brawl

Well I know I usually don't post news and I'm sorry if it annoys you. Just leave me a comment about what you think. Anyway, here is an official US Trailer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl below. I know I can't wait for this game either!

Progress as Travis Touchdown

I've been playing No More Heroes like crazy, and today I beat Holly Summers and became Rank 6. I just got enough money to participate in the Rank 5 challenge. I'm trying to make the game last because last time when I got a game I wanted so bad I finished it in a few days and it made me kinda sad that I didn't take my time. (Super Mario Galaxy is the game in question.)

I've done many side-jobs to earn enough money to pay for each Ranked Mission and by doing Assassin side-jobs as well. Some of the side-jobs consist of Mowing a Lawn, Filling Up Cars with Gas, Picking up Garbage and usual normal stuff like that. The assassin missions are really random, one is to kill the CEO of a pizza joint, another one is to hit a baseball with the beam katana and take out all your opponents, and another is just Travis in dark mode going nuts on his opponents, slicing them with one attack in a certain time limit. I also bought a new Beam Katana and extra add-ons for it from Naomi, which took a hefty amount of cash from Travis. Then I had to do more jobs just to enter the next ranked mission.

This game is just one of the best games on the Wii so far from third parties. Other third parties in particular Sega and Ubisoft need to delay their games, polish them, and come up with some new ideas instead of rushing their games, leaving them full of errors, and not making it the best it could possibly be. I mean seriously, a Sonic racing game with no WiFi? NiGHTS had WiFi, why can't Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity? And what is with Ubisoft releasing games full of glitches...polish your games and make them fun, not just cheap cash-ins. There is no way that their best effort can be some Rayman mini-games. If 3rd parties took the time to develop their games instead of rushing them, then maybe more serious gamers would buy them.

No More Heroes is awesome!!!

Wow, so far I've only played about 3 hours of the game and let me tell you, this is a masterpiece! Sure the F word and S word are spammed a lot but it's only for comedic affect most of the time. I wasn't expecting the F word in a game...I just never saw that happening.

Travis has this bad boy attitude and it's pretty awesome. The only thing that disappoints me is that the video for Heavenly Star is not included in the US version, instead we get all of the blood and a replacement of the video with one of the first trailers for the game. Come on Ubisoft why did you have to take away the video? ;-;

But yeah, the combat is pretty interesting, there are so many different combos you can pull off, but most of the time I found myself beheading every little opponent that came up to me. The boss battles are pretty challenging even on "Sweet" mode which is just the usual Easy mode to all of us gamers out there. The game is just so awesome that any mature gamer will love it a lot. I can't see people buying this for their kids due to all of the cussing and stuff, but I'm sure they will be buying it for themselves once they see what it has to offer.

Pick up No More Heroes now if you are allowed and can tolerate the awesomeness that this game offers! If you don't then you are missing out on one of the Wii's best 3rd Party games ever!

I got No More Heroes

Well today I got No More Heroes in the mail from my older brother Brandon, thank you so much bro!!! This game should be fun, I won't be able to play it for a few more hours but I know I will definitely enjoy its "baditude" as the reviewer from Wii.TV calls it. I'm kind of disappointed the Heavenly Star video wasn't included in the US version, but it's in the Japanese version and European version >_>;

Rest In Peace Bandit, We Love and Miss You!!!!

Bandit ~ October 1996- Feb. 9, 2008 ~ Rest in Peace Old Friend!!!

I just lost another great friend of mine. His name was Bandit and he belonged to my grandfather, but most of all he was part of our family and we miss him so much. Bandit was diagnosed with a liver problem back in November, and the veterinarian thought it may be cancer. Well ever since Bandit got back from the vet he acted like he used to as always. Barking at us to let him out, feed him, play with him. So we thought he would be around for a good long time, but now he just left us for heaven. ;___;

My dog Harley is moping around, he's laying down by the stairs like he is waiting for Bandit to come back. I mean I know Harley knows Bandit is gone, but I still think he has some kind of hope that Bandit will walk right through the front door. Every time we let him outside in the backyard he goes to the spot where Bandit passed away and sniffs around looking for him. I hope Harley can get through this, and I'm going to try my best to help him.

I'm just really sad right now. I've had too much pain and sorrow in my life that I've thought about ending it so many times. I know that is crazy but I could never do that to my family. I would never purposely take my own life. It's just I'm tired of all the sadness in my life, I want more happiness to come and for the past several years I have lost several family members as well as my dog Midnight back in 2000.

Bandit was a great dog and friend, and I know he is up in heaven with all of my other family, probably visiting with grandma and Midnight. I know he is in a better place and not suffering anymore which makes me have a little bit of closure. But I will miss Bandit for the rest of my life.

WE MISS YOU BANDIT, REST IN PEACE BUDDY, WE LOVE YOU!!!

Show Me Your DS/DS Lite

Well, you probably don't know but I am the owner of an original Silver DS I got for Christmas 2004 and a Pokémon Dialga & Palkia DS Lite I got back in May 2007 as an early birthday gift. I even made a video about it which has received much flack because I had trouble holding my camera and trying to record a video of opening it up. (plus my monotone voice didn't help either, I was tired). So anyway since you all know what an original Silver DS looks like I'll just show you my DS Lite below:

You can click on it to make it bigger. So anyway, do any of you have any special edition DS's or DS Lite's or do you have a regular standard color or import DS/DS Lite? Show your pictures here.

So far the following colors have been released around the world:
  • Polar White
  • Ice Blue (Japan, Korea, Australia Only)
  • Enamel Navy (Japan Only)
  • Jet Black

Survival of a Gamer

Well today we have made it through the first month of the year, and we are all still alive since that asteroid didn't hit earth. Honestly there wouldn't be much we could do if one did hit Earth, the last one to actually hit Earth hit in the early 1900's in Siberia and took out a forest of trees...no one died.

Anyway, I think I am finally getting over the Flu. I haven't had a temperature above 100 for the past two days, all that is left is this horrible cough that won't let me sleep. I'm hoping this goes away soon because I need to start my job, that is if I still have it.

My copy of Endless Ocean came the other day, earlier than expected. It was actually delayed a little while by Amazon with no explanation. Anyway, I have been playing it while I've been sick and I have come to find it is really relaxing and addicting at times. The WiFi is pretty limited, Nintendo needs some voice chat dammit (and it's bad it isn't in Brawl!) I mean you can swim with your friend and they can write a little bit using an underwater marker thing. I've been interested in this game since I learned about it, I just unlocked the camera mode (I love photography) so I'll see what I can do as far as taking pictures goes.

Now to the actual part about this blog in general. I am actually thinking about bringing reviews back up on here, it is just I have no way to only post a part of it without the whole thing showing up on the main page. I don't like posts in general to take up too much space on the site and I know this one is going to. (I don't see an option to hide some of the post, if you know how to do this AIM me: MidnightScott or MSN: scott_m_reed(at)sbcglobal(dot)net - So anyway are any of you interested in being reviewers? Remember this is strictly for Wii, DS, and even Virtual Console games. Please contact me on AIM or MSN if you are interested. I'm also looking to come up with a new rating system as those old tenths place point differences were pretty pointless and unclear.

Anyway that is all I have to say for now, catch yall later!
