I got Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

Well, today my copy of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles finally arrived in the mail. Stupid mail ended up damaging the case partially, as if the package had been squashed in a mail sorting machine. USPS sucks!

Anyway, I've basically been playing it almost all day. I managed to finish the Resident Evil 2 portion of the game that has Claire Redfield & Leon Kennedy in it. It was really cool but still really tough even on normal mode. I died over ten times. At least I didn't chicken out for the Easy mode on the first playthrough of the game.

Definitely a game that you should be getting for Christmas, or soon after. And if you already have it, good job!

I beat Muramasa!

Oh hell yes! This game is like one of the top 10 games for the Wii! Everyone go out there and buy it now...don't let it fall through the cracks. Make it known that this game is among the best out there!

I just finished Kisuke's Story...having played for 5 hours straight through. (Holy crap I haven't done that in a long time.) I beat Momohime's Story the other night. As I said, if you are looking for a great Wii game, definitely pick this one up!

Beat Disaster: Day of Crisis

Well I just finished Disaster: Day of Crisis. I know it seems like I did it very fast, but I've been playing it everyday since I got it. It's just such a good game! Nintendo of America is very foolish for not bringing this game over. The hardcore will love it, and I think the casuals would even give it a chance due to it's [mostly] easy control scheme.

I love the atmosphere, it is totally what you would expect in a disaster type film. I mean I actually started dreaming about the game. I went through Hurricane Ike back in September last year, and the winds in the game were like the winds in real life. It was very scary and stuff, but we got lucky we didn't live in Galveston.

Anyway, I definitely do recommend Disaster: Day of Crisis for importing. If you need help with setting up the homebrew, just give me a buzz and I'll be there eagerly. I just don't get why Nintendo sent this game out to not do well, when it really is an awesome game!

I hope for a sequel ^.^

Beat Professor Layton!

Wow, I just finished Professor Layton's story mode. Sure there are more challenges, and one more extra puzzle to be finished, but you know I think I did a pretty good job. I just got the game the other day and already finished it, so I'm happy. ^_^

The last extra mystery in the game can't be solved until Nintendo supplies a code, which according to the booklet says will be included in the next Layton game.

However, this game came out a year ago, and we still haven't heard a thing about the sequels coming to the US. I hope Nintendo of America releases them, because it would be sad if they didn't! Layton is a unique game series and I want to see more of it soon!

Beat Captain Rainbow!

I finally beat Captain Rainbow! The game isn't very long; my finishing time was about 15 hours or so. I really found the story to be interesting even though I pretty much don't know what was being said. If you have homebrew on your Wii, I definitely recommend this as an import title to play.

Helping obscure Nintendo characters that I never really knew about made it kind of interesting, as well as funny with having to help Birdo with it's dilemma.

However, once you beat the game and save after the credits, you can no longer play your save file at all, which is kind of annoying. I mean I could've saved it in a different slot, but why do I need to go play it again? There isn't really anything you need to complete in the game, so I'm considering it finished.

This wasn't a review, but if I had to rate Captain Rainbow, I would give it an 80% for being unique and interesting!

Rescuing Forgotten Nintendo Characters

Well so far in Captain Rainbow I have managed to send Mappo the Robot (from Giftpia) and Lip (from Panel de Pon) away from Mimin Island. Basically I had to do something to get their friendship bond, then collect enough stars to enable a big star to appear. Then I have to get the big star, find the character I want to send away from the island, and then have to take them to the Mimin shrine.

On the way up there I can pass the star between Nick and the other character, but I have to avoid the black Goo things, because they will try to steal the star. If they do then I have to chase them around and ram into them to start a fight. A Mimin with a gong will appear, and once the gong is hit you have to push the A button first and Nick will do a sideswipe. It's pretty easy to do but the Mimin will try to trick you into going too early, thus making you lose. If the black goo monster has the star too long it's power will be absorbed making it useless.

I'm really having trouble with Ossan the Golfer (from NES Golf), as well as Little Mac (from Punch-Out!!)'s minigames. In Ossan's game you have to swing your golf club and hit moving targets. The targets that give you more points are smaller and move faster, but if you even miss a target you always lose like 10 points. I keep missing too much, thus having to wait until the next day once again. -_-;

Little Mac is basically overweight in this game, and you have to play a Rhythm punching game (a la Wii Fit's minigame except super hard) to help him burn calories. The fact is that there are 3 difficulty modes, and you have to get between 18,000 and 19,000 something calories burned. If you burn too little he will remain fat, and if you burn too much he'll be skinny as a rail. I ended up turning him into nothing but a toothpick pretty much. Now I don't know how to initiate him into another minigame because he disappeared. Hopefully he turns up soon so I can get his Friendship Bond and send him away from Mimin Island.

What's annoying is that if you lose, you have to wait until the next day (which you can speed up by sleeping at Hikari's) to redo the event. I'm starting to get tired of having to do this! If the game had several areas where you could fast-forward time in I wouldn't be so annoyed in the first place. I guess this is what I get for playing a game with a language barrier, but it is still a great game nonetheless!

Captain Rainbow

So I haven't really been playing my Wii much lately. Mostly my DS here and there. I know I have a huge backlog to finish, but I decided to pick back up on Captain Rainbow which I got in October/November of last year. Anyway I really enjoy the game, just wish it was in English. Sadly, the game contains too much humor that is not meant for children (Ex. Birdo's a transexual)

Basically all you do is go around and help these characters and grant their wish instead of your own. It's pretty interesting, so far I only have a friendship bond for Birdo, as well as Mappo the Robot, but that's pretty much it.

Hopefully I finish it soon! I do recommend it to people who either know Japanese or can enjoy it using a guide, but if you can't do one of those, then you should probably stay away from this game.

Now all we can do is hope for a new Chibi-Robo game on the Wii!

Kirby Super Star Ultra Progress

Well, lately I started playing games again after the Christmas vacation. Anyway, I decided to pick up on Kirby Super Star Ultra. So far I've finished Spring Breeze, Dyna Blade, Gourmet Race, The Great Cave Offensive (I didn't collect all the treasures though), Revenge of Meta Knight, and just recently Milky Way Wishes.

Currently I'm playing Revenge of the King, which is just a tougher version of Spring Breeze with difficulty ramped up. It also has a few different bosses, as well as I get to fight a masked version of Dedede. I guess Nintendo thinks masks are still scary :p

Anyway I am enjoying this like any other Kirby game, but I didn't know how many different games in it. It is definitely worth the money. I've never played the original, but I like this. Kirby games are awesome, hopefully there will be a Kirby Wii game soon!

Backlogs

If you are a gamer, than you probably have a backlog.

A backlog is basically games you haven't played until completion. Getting to the credits simply means you have beaten a game. But to complete it, it means unlocking all the extra characters/modes/stages and finishing them all. Mastering is where you get perfect ranks/scores on each stage/mode you are playing.

I myself have a huge backlog of games that I haven't even made it to the title screen in. I basically got caught up in each new game that was coming out and then ignored the ones I had already in my possession. I am what you call a Gaming Shopaholic. I buy all the cool games that come out (for DS/Wii) even when I'm not finished with my old games, which led to my backlog.

Recently I was directed to a site called The Backloggery. This site lets you add your games for each system to help you keep track of what is Unfinished, Beaten, Complete, or Mastered. Most people won't have any mastered games, but many people will have Complete.

The Backloggery also has a random game generator for whatever game you might want to play. Recently I used it and it brought up Minicopter: Adventure Flight. The toy RC copter game is actually a budget title, and thus very short. So I went back to play it tonight and I just Beat the game. I didn't Complete it though, as there were Treasure stages I didn't finish and ofcourse I haven't collected all of the different RC helicopters.

So do you have a backlog? If so, how many games are in it?

Finished Ranger 2!!!

Yes, I've basically been playing the game everyday and I finished the story mode of Ranger 2. I mean sure I need to do the downloaded missions, finish the rest of the quests, and fill the Ranger Browser...but me finishing a game so quickly is a rare thing. I can count on one hand how many games I've finished in just a couple of days.

Let me tell you, if you are looking for a DS game worth the time and money, Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia is one you need to pick up. While the concept may sound dumb to you, it's the story that drives the game and the tough battles you have to face throughout the game. Plus with extra downloadable missions in the future, you will have extra replay value mixed in.

Maybe I should write reviews again? I work alot and don't get to play games as much anymore, and I'm very tired. Hmm...what to do.

Finished Pokemon MD Time!

So I finally did it. Today I kept going after Dialga and lost once. Then I went at it again and then Piplup started kicking Diaga's butt, and used Brine and knocked off 265 HP from Dialga! It was amazing, after all of this time Piplup stood up and started kicking ass =P

I am happy I finished this game ^_^ - now what to play next, I guess Megaman Star Force 2? =o

Operation Fun

Well, I played Trauma Center: New Blood again for about an hour.

I finally got past the difficult pacemaker replacement surgery on the little girl Chloe. I lost so many times that I almost felt like giving up but I finally succeeded.

The next operation was on some guy named Carlos who had been hit by a car, and I had to repare a bunch of burns.

After that, I did the operation on Professor Wilkens. He has the STIGMA disease, and I didn't even lose the first time I did it. I killed the STIGMA that was moving around quickly causing more damage by continuously burning it with the laser. I'm actually surprised I got through that in one try.

However, I am playing the game on easy, but I'm still having a good time, so I guess that is all that matters, right?

I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great Wii game during this big drought we are having!

Sorry

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. All I've been doing lately is playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time or sleeping. Work is really tiring me out, even today I ended up taking a nap for an hour or more.

And with Wii Fit I haven't done any of the exercises in like 2 weeks because I've been so tired from work. I mean I may actually do some tonight finally. All I have done is the body test everyday.

I've been playing Explorers of Time a lot though. I just never thought I would ever get into a dungeon RPG but Pokémon pulled me into the genre. I hope I end up finishing the game soon, because I may be buying Megaman Star Force 2 soon as well.

There isn't anything coming to the Wii for a while that I want so don't expect much updates on the Wii front besides news. Also, an online friend sent me Toki Tori from WiiWare so I'm gonna have to check that out tonight. (Thank you Baconbitz! ^_^) My problem is that I have too many games and don't have time to play them all.

I really need to start writing reviews again, anyone want me to start back up? Please leave me a comment to let me know if I should!

Happy Father's Day to all of you people who may be reading my blog but I have no idea are!

Team Midnight

Well, I started playing more Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time today. I haven't been playing much games lately because I've been kind of tired and not much into playing games. I figured it was a good time to really get into this latest game so I went ahead and played it.

The thing I dislike the most is sometimes the AI can be really cheap. Constantly putting my Pokémon to sleep or paralyzing them and attacking them while I'm trying to attack back but can't because I don't have a certain item. I definitely like the game more than the first game. I didn't understand how to recruit Pokémon so I barely played the first game.

I'm still playing as Turtwig, who just learned Razor Leaf finally. Before all I had was Tackle, Growl, and Absorb. The attack has really came in handy. I hope Turtwig learns better moves soon. I think he is currently at Level 13. Piplup is also at Level 13.

I've also recruited a Surskit and a Lotad I believe. I don't really remember. I just hope I can recruit all the Pokémon available, just like completing the Pokédex in the main series of games.

From what I've played I can definitely recommend this to hardcore Pokémon fans and fans of the dungeon RPG genre of gaming. I find it more interesting to play this series with Pokémon, otherwise I would probably never play a dungeon RPG. I'm so glad I got this game! ^_^

Brawl is a Blast!

Yeah so I've basically been playing almost all day up until just a few minutes ago. WiFi is still kind of laggy but nothing like it was the first time I played where the game literally froze for several seconds at a time.

So anyway I've basically been playing the Subspace Emissary (it's the easiest way to unlock most of the characters) for about 5 or so hours. I'm only 50% complete too. I've unlocked all of the characters except for Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, Wolf, and Toon Link. I assume it's going to be a while because Ganondorf seems to be a villain as well(duh). I actually like it, it's pretty challenging and I have died many times, though it lets you continue without any problems. All I can say is this is easily one of the best things in the whole game besides WiFi and new characters.

So where are you at in Brawl? How many characters have you unlocked? What are your WiFi Wins VS Losses? Let me know in a comment!

The End of Umbrella

Well I've been playing Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles like crazy for the past several days and zipping through it. I think I'm still missing some side missions as Albert Wesker, Ada Wong, and maybe even Leon Kennedy but I'm not even sure if he is in the game. But yeah, today I finished the chapters "Umbrella The End 1 & 2" and there seems to be a part 3 that is all is left. I can tell the difficulty really ramped up right in these chapters as multiple enemies appeared. Luckily I was able to keep them off long enough to finish them off.

Later today I think I will try and find out the criteria for unlocking the other missions that I think I may be missing. I know I'm missing a bunch of items, after all I'm playing on easy and have mostly C's on all of the missions. Who knows, maybe I need to play some of them over and I'll get the missions I think I may be missing? I also plan to finish this game later today/tonight so wish me luck because I know I'll probably die a few times, lol.

Overall I would say this is the best rail shooter on the Wii. Ghost Squad is short and so is Link's Crossbow Training. Even the upcoming House of the Dead 2 & 3: Return is probably short compared to this game. So if you are looking for a good rail shooter, I definitely recommend Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles to you. I like it a lot and it's a great co-op game to play with relatives or friends.

Welcome to March

So Zack and Wiki once again got a bit annoying and boring so I stopped playing it again. I decided to pick back up Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles yesterday and see if I could get past the part I was stuck on "Train Derailment Part 2" where I kept dying. I finally managed to get passed it and I beat the boss without dying. Then I went through "Train Derailment Part 3" and beat that without dying as well. I'm playing on Easy and the game seems so hard still, plus my arm is really tired now.

The game has redeemed itself to me now that I have found a way to get passed the difficult part! I was thinking it may have been a bad buy for me since I can't even play Resident Evil 4 which I have for both Gamecube & Wii. I always get killed by the villagers in the beginning and I get lost to. Maybe I should stop playing Adventure type games so much, I always get lost and it annoys me to where I don't want to play. Sorry I'm just complaining like I always do! ^_^;

Anyways, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is out in 5 days!!! Don't forget about the Tournament & Midnight Launch at GameStop because you can challenge other Smash fans and also walk home with your copy of the game and play it all night! I am so excited that I will finally have an Online Wii game that I will play all the time and never get bored of.

Kirby Fever, Space Invaders, and a Wii Update

Yeah, so Kirby 64 came out on the Wii's virtual console yesterday. I remember playing that game at my friends house all the time, but like many other N64 games I never owned it. So ofcourse I took advantage of downloading it on the Wii. The game plays perfectly with no qualms I am happy to report, so if your a Kirby fan or want a unique experience this is one of the better games on the Virtual Console. You can even mix two powers to make a unique power that is only available in this game. (I wish that system was utilized in other Kirby games, make it happen in Kirby for the Wii, Nintendo!)

I also decided to play Kirby: Canvas Curse on DS which I got back in July 2005 the other day. I finally finished the main story and collected all of the medals that you get in the levels. I still need to collect the medals from the Rainbow Run mode but I'll save that for another time. Other then that I'm pretty much done with that game. (As you can tell I'm a Kirby fan even though I only own 4 games, I've played many games in the series!)

As you know I have an R4 so I can try games out before I buy them. The latest game I tried just came out in Japan, Space Invaders Extreme. This latest reworking of the ancient game really reminds me of Meteos style. It's got techno music and flashy background graphics. And you know what, this game is surprisingly addictive. I never thought I would be playing this much. Sadly the game won't be coming stateside for a few months, but it is basically import friendly as the game talks to you and displays most things in English. (The only Japanese I saw was description of each mode.) I think I will definitely pick this one up. The game also uses the Paddle controller but there is no word whether that peripheral will be brought over to the US.

Also, there was a Wii System Update to version 3.2 - basically all it will do is if you pop in a game that requires a Wii Update, it will display a message on the Wii Menu in the Disk Channel space just like how the Wii Shop Channel shows off one of the latest games available on it. I guess it could kind of help those modders/hackers out there with modchips by protecting them from a game that will cause their Wii to brick...lol.

Finished No More Heroes...

Well I just finished No More Heroes a few minutes ago. It has the most bizarre ending ever and the credits music is pretty good, I want the soundtrack for this game! Anyway, I only died I think two times on the final battle compared to the battle against Bad Girl yesterday morning. But apparently that isn't the final battle...because there was one more battle after that which is the true ending. Of course I'm not going to tell you anything because I'm not an evil gamer who spoils.

One thing I'm glad is that I finally know the whole story behind the game that was so unclear in the beginning of the game. It pretty much ties up all of the lose ends (even Travis says that during his final fight against an opponent from the past.)

Apparently after you finish you can play your file over again on another difficulty, however you get to keep all of your weapons, money, etc. from before which is really cool. I can see myself playing this game sometime soon but I have some other games to finish (Zack & Wiki which I barely played...) There will also be extra cards you can collect and you will learn the backstory on all of the assassins, as well as unlock character art and extra neat bonuses like that.

Thank you so much Suda51 for making this awesome game, if there is a sequel to this, I can't wait for it to happen!

Otaku Assassin Progress

Well other than having to go get my mom out of jail the other day I played No More Heroes some more and finished several ranked missions. I am now Rank 2, and let me tell you, that was the hardest fight in the entire game. I never died so many times on any ranked matches and even stayed up till 4:30 AM playing the game, until I finally defeated the person. Don't read below if you don't want to be spoiled. I now basically have to go get a butt-load of money and buy up the new Beam Katana's and then get enough money to enter the Rank 1 fight. This is going to take a while because this next match cost LB$550,000 to enter >_>;. Guess I need to rescue some more kitties, hehe. Spoilers Below...

The Rank 2 match takes place in a room underneath Destroy Stadium. Your opponent is a b*tch who goes by the name of Bad Girl (adding to the fact that Suda's characters have weird names.) She seems kind of psycho, and she has a baseball bat too. So you can imagine what it was like trying to beat her. First she just swings the bat at you and after that is when you get the chance to attack her a little. Eventually she will start batting her minions at you, and you can hit them back at her but you have to be really quick at doing it. If a minion hits you it causes massive damage to your health. Another thing she will do is fall to the ground and pretend she is crying; when she does this be sure to stay away from her because she will use a killing technique and all your hard work will have gone to waste. The most annoying attack she has is when she does this ground pound, which will hurt you if you don't evade by having the Z button homed in on her and pressing down on the D-Pad to evade.

I know reading about it won't help you, so I'll leave it up to you to find a Youtube video of the match if you want to see. I also just don't want to spoil you, so if you read the above paragraph then you have been spoiled somewhat.

As I said before, if you can tolerate the bad language in the game, and all the cartoony gore of killing your opponents, then this game is definitely for you. This game has actually sold over 100,000 copies in the US, and expected to sell more as time goes on. Buy this game or you are seriously missing out on one of the best third party games on the Wii!
